ABSTRACT
To rationally evaluate bus efficiency, the traffic environment of the city must be considered. Based on real time traffic data from the internet and AVL (auto vehicle location) data of bus lines, a fusion dataset can be derived by integrating data spatially and temporally. Two major indexes, bus speed and bus to non-bus vehicle speed ratio, are then calculated and applied in various cases. Results show that bus speed is good at quantifying the absolute efficiency, while speed ratio the relative. By combining both aspects, a bus efficiency evaluation method is proposed. By considering both speed and speed ratio, the absolute, and relative level of bus efficiency can be quantified in a more comprehensive and rational way.
