The Optimal Path Planning for Emergency Vehicles Based on Path Saturation Analysis

Publication: CICTP 2020

ABSTRACT

To ensure emergency vehicles arrive at their destination as soon as possible, this paper presents a method to plan an optimal path for emergency vehicles based on urban traffic status analysis. Firstly, the saturation of each lane group at the intersection in the road network is analyzed. Then, the lane group saturation prediction method based on the long short-term memory (LSTM) network model is proposed. According to the lane group saturation prediction and the travel time estimation, the optimal path for emergency vehicles is selected. Finally, the test area is selected to verify the method. The example proves that this method can effectively plan the path with the shortest travel time for emergency vehicles from all possible paths during peak hours. It is reliable to plan optimal path for emergency vehicles.
