Analysis on the Influencing Factors of Traffic Mode Choice Behavior for Regional Travel in China

ABSTRACT
The aim of this paper is to analyze the influencing factors of traffic mode choice behavior for regional travel. Five main mode including high-speed rail, ordinary railway, airplane, car and coach was considered to build regional travel mode choice models based on multiple Logit model and Nested Logit model. The model is calibrated with the online survey results and data collected by crawler technology. The modeling results show that: The accuracy of both models is acceptable, with more than 80%, among which the accuracy of NL model is higher. In regional travel, traveler’s choice behavior can be affected by more factors compare with in the city. Distance, psychological needs of travelers and the economic development level of the departure and destination have an important impact on the choice behavior in regional travel.
