ABSTRACT
In order to explore the influencing factors of the severity of traffic accidents at intersections, a lot of journal review has been made. This paper categorizes accidents into serious accidents and non-serious accidents. Considering the interaction between different variables, the logistic regression model is established to discuss the factors from four aspects: people, vehicles, roads, and the environment. The factors including sex of the driver, age band of driver, journey purpose of the driver, vehicle type, vehicle location, age of the vehicle, number of vehicles, road class, road type, junction detail, junction control, pedestrian crossing control, speed limit, and light conditions. The results show that model provides a good fit for data, all the factors except vehicle location and age of vehicle have a significant influence on the severity of the accident. Finally, according to the model fitting results, the corresponding measures to reduce intersection accident damage and improve safety are proposed.
