ABSTRACT
The departments of road transport safety management play an important role in risk management, but there is little research into their risk management processes. Based on an analysis of the organizational structures and risk management processes of transport enterprises, a risk management process for road transportation management departments is put forward in this paper. The indicator system and evaluation method are established through summarizing the existing qualitative or quantitative evaluation methods assessing risk severity. Risk management processes are evaluated through the example of a northwest province in China. The results show that organization is the most important indicator for the health of a risk management system. The proposed method can provide the basis for risk management assessment in a road transportation management department. It is of great significance to perfect the risk management system.
