ABSTRACT
Urban traffic congestion problem is increasingly serious. In view of the bus service delay problems in peak hour, this paper proposes a method to match arrival time and calculates the delay time in bus service by using the difference of travel time in peak hour and in non-peak hour based on IC card data, then identifies delay areas. Based on IC card data in Beijing, the delay time of more than 800 bus routes in Beijing is calculated and analyzed. The results show that the arrival corridor and the transportation junction are the areas with large delay time and frequent delay. The delay time in bus service is positively correlated with the number of passengers and the distance between stations, but has no obvious correlation with the distance from the city center and the density of road network. The delay time per kilometer is negatively correlated with the distance between stations.
