ABSTRACT
As urbanization has progressed, integrated passenger transport hubs have become increasingly important public places with many passengers and vehicles, so the setup of their internal service facilities affects the operational efficiency of the whole hub. Design capacity is the main basis of facilities planning and design. Unreasonable capacity caused by unreasonable design leads to crowed queues or unused facilities. When different service facilities interact with each other, traditional capacity indicators no longer apply. Little research has been done to consider this interaction. This research focused on one large integrated passenger transport hub in China, for which we chose AnyLogic as the pedestrian simulation software to research the configuration of interacting service facilities. The service facilities’ capacity was evaluated using two variables derived from pedestrian simulation: pedestrian density and average passage time. The simulation results provide the basis for determining the number of service facilities and security for hub operation.
