ABSTRACT
Porous asphalt concrete (PAC) has excellent water stability, noise reduction and fatigue resistance. Movement characteristics of aggregate during the formation of PAC are one of the most important topics of research. In this paper, the vibration compaction parameters of the PAC specimen were determined by theoretical calculation and experimental analysis. We then collected information about the aggregate during the vibration compaction process and analyzed the motion characteristics. Under the action of vibration load, the variation of the inclination angle is larger with the increase in vibration frequency. The data shows that the top aggregate is first compacted, the bottom and upper aggregates are subsequently compacted, and the middle and lower aggregates are finally compacted during the vibration compaction process.
