Abstract
Truck congestion was common on container terminals with the increasing cargo throughput of the port. In order to ease the congestion, the traditional reservation mechanism used to limit the number of container trucks in a longer period of time, but it did not work very well. Thus, a dynamic reservation feedback mechanism was established by matching the arrival time sequence of container trucks and the stacking sequence of containers in the yard. Then, an optimization model of arrival time sequence for container trucks was proposed to reduce the average turnaround time of container trucks on container terminals. The proposed model was solved by genetic algorithm and the mechanism was validated by the simulation results. The results indicate that the average turnover time of the container trucks on container terminals was shortened by 67.09%.
