Analysis for Joint Impact of Factors Affecting Trams’ Segment Travel Speed
Publication: CICTP 2019
Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the joint impact of factors affecting the segment travel speed of trams using automatic vehicle location (AVL) data, and the tram lines studied are in Longhua District, Shenzhen. Preliminarily, the information of raw AVL data was extracted and analyzed using matlab. Besides, the two tram lines’ actual operating environment parameters are obtained with field survey. Four models are constructed for the four different circumstances respectively using multiple linear regression method. Results show that the “Turnout switch area num” and “Whether the turnouts being used” variables have negative and significant impact on the segment travel speed. In contrast, the “Signal priority” variable only has finitely positive impact on the improvement on the trams’ segment travel speed, which means there is still a long way to go in traffic control strategy. Furthermore, the consequences of study are helpful in predicting the arrival time of trams.
