Risk Management Research on BOT Project Financing: Based on the Perspective of Commercial Banks

ABSTRACT

With rapid development of economy in China, the BOT project financing, as a new way of raising money, is increasingly used in urban infrastructure and relevant areas and has made great contribution to solving the problem of lack of funding of large infrastructure projects in China. Because of characteristics of BOT financing project such as large time span, lots of participants, complex structure, it leads to great project financing risk. As an important participant of BOT project financing, banks also bear huge risks. For lending banks, it has very important realistic significance in identifying, evaluating, and avoiding the risks of BOT project financing, to prevent and reduce the loan risk. On the basis of BOT project financing and risk management theories, this paper makes detailed analysis of each risk management process of project financing from the perspective of commercial bank, to prevent and manage all kinds of risks of project financing, and promote the smooth running of BOT projects in China.
