Discharge Pipes for a 875,000 gpm Pump Station

Publication: Pipelines 2014: From Underground to the Forefront of Innovation and Sustainability

Abstract

The City of Dallas is bisected by the Trinity River, which flows southwest of Downtown Dallas. During the early 20th century the city was flooded by the river and a system of two levees was constructed in the 1930s to form the Dallas Floodway and control the river. The system was improved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the 1950s, and the Dallas Floodway became a federal project. There are six pump stations that are part of the associated interior drainage system: Able, Baker, Charlie, Delta, Pavaho, and Hampton storm water pump stations.
