Adaptability and Pattern Study of Developing Bus Rapid Transit in Xining City

Abstract
Affected by the terrain, Xining city is a typical zonal land-use pattern and plateau city. The characteristics of people's trips modes are obvious, the road resources are limited and traffic pressure is more serious than a typical city. The bus as a main trip mode has low reliability and poor level of service at present, which cannot satisfy the multilevel trip demands of residents. In the face of increased trip demands from residents, one kind of transit mode with high capacity and reliability is desired. Based on the development of urban traffic in Xining city, analysis of urban public transportation actuality and developing trend, combined with the systematic and operational characteristics of BRT, this paper researches the adaptability of developing BRT in Xining city through macrocosmic and microcosmic aspects, and points out the function in urban comprehensive traffic system and applicable pattern of BRT.
