Operation Mechanism of Chengdu-Chongqing Logistics Corridor

Chengdu-Chongqing Urban Agglomerations in Yangtze River upstream area are playing an increasingly key role in the Western Development Strategy of China since the 1990s. Meanwhile an important logistics corridor linking Chengdu and Chongqing has emerged. This paper introduces the feature of the Chengdu-Chongqing logistics corridor and presents a general description of the logistics corridor system. As a social-technical system, its internal operation mechanism of inter-linked subsystems is described. Then the coupling interactions between the regional logistics corridor and the urban agglomerations are proposed to reveal the external operation mechanism of the logistics corridor. It is concluded that the Chengdu-Chongqing logistics corridor has become one of the major forces to promote the regional economic development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Urban Agglomerations by "corridor effects."
