Location Method of Inland Waterway Service Areas Based on Comprehensive Assessment

Publication: ICTE 2013: Safety, Speediness, Intelligence, Low-Carbon, Innovation

Abstract

The location method for inland waterway service areas, a new feature with the development of shipping and the demand of crew, is still in its infancy. Through field research and analysis we find that the most urgent requirements for the crew are supply of daily living goods, fuel, water, and information; the average mileages of vessels berthing are normally distributed; and the reasonable distance between adjacent service areas is 30km to 80km. This paper puts forward a location method based on comprehensive assessment. First, forecast the demand for service areas, then screen preliminary options according to the necessary indexes and evaluate the options by secondary location model, and finally optimize the layout and determine the final locations.
