Abstract
With purpose of improving the quality of transit operation, the multi-mode optimization of bus stopping based on comprehensive cost was studied. The model based on minimizing passengers' travel cost and transit vehicles' operation cost was established. Constraints including bus transit capacity, passenger volume, and time and capacity rate were under consideration. The algorithm was delivered to cope with it according to genetic algorithm (GA). An example was prepared to verify the correctness of the model and the effectiveness of the algorithm. The results have indicated that the optimization leads to 51.1% reduction of the costs during the peak hour and 43.3% during the flat one, which shows that the method mentioned and discussed here is both applicable and effective.
