Abstract
This study forecasts the demand of electric vehicle ownership and usage in the Chukyo region in Japan. A discrete-continuous model called the Bayesian Multivariate Tobit, Ordered and Binary Probit model is applied here. The 4th person trip survey data (2001) in this region are used as the sample. The household annual income is estimated using an ordered probit model. The result shows that average ownership and monthly mileage of electric vehicles are 0.324 and 259.36 km per household, respectively. Meanwhile, it shows that the average ownership and monthly mileage of electric vehicles in suburban areas are more than that in urban areas.
