Abstract
To investigate the nonlinear behavior of fluid flow in the fracture, a set of numerical single rock fracture models with different JRC values and one with real rock fracture profile were built. Numerical simulations of single-phase water flow through these models under varying inlet pressure were carried out using COMSOL Multiphysics numerical simulator. Three kinds of joints roughness coefficient (JRC) values were applied to build these fracture models and to study the effect of the roughness of the fracture on the flow behavior. The numerical simulation results and the comparison test results show that the models could simulate the nonlinear behavior of fluid flow in single rock fracture effectively. Fracture roughness has significant effect on the nonlinear flow behavior in the fracture.
