Analysis on Throughput Capacity of Coal Terminal by BP Neural Network

Publication: ICLEM 2012: Logistics for Sustained Economic Development—Technology and Management for Efficiency

Abstract

To improve and enhance the throughput capacity of coal terminal logistics system, a BP neural network model was built to find out which factors influence throughput capacity of coal terminal logistics system and how these factors impact coal terminal logistics system. A case study with data on 34 months collected from a Chinese coal terminal's actual operation was used to simulate, and testify the BP neural network model, which contained 10 input elements and only 1 output element. According to calculation and analysis of this BP neural network model, the relationship between various factors and throughput capacity of coal terminal logistics were gained and the drawbacks of coal terminal logistics system were discovered.
