Abstract
Dynamic modelling of large diameter cylinder breakwater (LDCB) under random waves is studied, which is classified first as three motion modes, namely, rotation, rotation-small sliding, and rotation-large sliding, according to the motion process of the LDCB. The spring-dashpot-antislider system to control the lateral sliding and corresponding motion equations are established, and the formulas to calculate added earth mass, added water mass, stiffness of foundation, and relative damping coefficients are put forward on the basis of the bottomless characteristics of the LDCB. It is calibrated by the practical engineering example that the dynamic model and its method can be used effectively in dynamic response analysis of the LDCB under random waves.
