Testing and Evaluation of Sasobit on the Performances of Asphalt Rubber

Abstract
Different doses of Sasobit were added into Asphalt Rubber, their penetrations, softening points, ductility's at low temperature, and viscosities were measured. The test results indicate that Sasobit can reduce Asphalt Rubber's penetration and increase its softening point, improving the high-temperature performance. It was also indicated that Sasobit has an adverse effect on the low-temperature performance of Asphalt Rubber by decreasing its ductility at low temperatures (5°C). Sasobit was also proven to lower the viscosities of Asphalt Rubber at high temperatures, allowing a decrease in the mixing and compaction temperatures of Asphalt Rubber Hot Mixtures to be possible. By calculating temperature susceptibility indexes such as PI and PVN, it can be concluded that Sasobit can increase PI values of Asphalt Rubber, while PVN values decrease.
