Abstract
In the cases of traffic growth and interchange congestion, interchange operation quality after construction completion has become a key factor for evaluating designs besides cost, covering, and safety. Along with the highway vehicles and management measures changes, an approximate calculation of part index based on theoretical formula does not accurately describe the operation quality under the condition of future traffic flow and thereby is fatal to engineering scheme selection. This article explored the method of using traffic simulation technology to evaluate the operation quality using indexes such as overall speed, travel time, detour index, capacity, emissions exhaust and fuel consumption. Applying computer simulation, traffic operation was simulated under the condition of future traffic flow. The effectiveness of evaluation indexes and their differences were obtained. An evaluation index system of operation quality for interchange design scheme was established.
