Abstract
The transportation system is one of the main driving forces of economic activity, and without efficient transport networks, there can be no competition for regional development. The paper firstly reviews the theory of the relationship between the transportation system and regional development and points out the dynamics of the regional disparity. Next, the paper analyses the regional development patterns of certain Chinese cities and the reason for megacity expansion. At last, two types of policies are given to promote regional balance.
