Abstract
With travel information demand increasing, travel information service to traveler is becoming more and more important in China. However, the existing travel information service systems developed by the provinces are far from perfect, with many issues to be solved including the quantity and quality of the data/information service in terms of data/information collection, up-dating timeliness, accuracy, manner of dissemination, effectiveness and efficiency, as well as user convenience. Based on field surveys, the current development status and limitation of travel information service system (TISS) in China is analyzed carefully, with gaps identified in terms of demand and supply, as well as information service quality in different regions. National TISS development strategy is proposed, which will have the effect on promoting TISS related products, value-added information service and industrial chain development so as to achieve long-term sustainable development and operation of TISS across the country.
