Abstract
This paper studies the efficiency of integrated signal control in ramp networks involving on-ramps, off-ramps, side roads and their intersections. To reach this goal, a representative simulation scenario for such ramping area is built and tested in three famous transportation simulations: S-PARAMICS, TransModeler 2.0 and VISSIM 4.3. The simulation results indicate that the integrated control strategies can efficiently reduce the average travel time on main roads and alleviate the traffic congestion between on-ramp and off-ramp areas. The differences between these simulations are also discussed.
