Abstract

The operation planning and design of an urban rail transit runs through the network planning stage, the recent phase of construction projects, project feasibility stage and operational stage. Network planning stage is the general sense of the operational feasibility, including the length of each line, branch lines, the connections among lines and sharing resources of maintenance equipments and so on.The recent phase of construction projects includes: vehicle selection, train composition, train travel time between stations, dwell time, train routing design, establishment of full day travel plan, the number of purchased vehicle, system capacity, organization and staffing. At feasibility phase, according to the passenger flow, in addition to the refinement of the above-mentioned thing, it is needed to add turn-back capacity and in-out depot ability to do checking, the default settings of the temporary cross-road (failure), and the whole day running diagrams painting under normal circumstances, guides and so on. At operational phase, according to passenger flow and this line specific device, it computes operating hours, dwell time, draws all kinds of diagram, and makes contingency plans.
