Cost Analysis of Public Transport in Shanghai

Abstract
The public transport cost is one of the problems that both citizens and the government are most concerned about. On the basis of investigation and analysis of the public transportation system in Shanghai, this paper calculates the index of Shanghai public transport cost. The trip cost of private transport and public transport were compared, and public transport price elasticity of demand was studied in the paper. In the end, the strategy which can lower the cost of public transport was introduced. The result of the research can provide the basis of decision making for urban transportation sustainable development.
