Abstract
Management of urban mobility and road space optimization is increasingly supported by the use of technology. The effective control of urban transport systems depends on a strategic project to devise a systemic network to manage traffic and transport, focused on road safety and flow, optimized through Intelligent Transportation Systems - ITS. Nowadays it is not enough focus only on expanding the infrastructure to improve movement of vehicles; it is necessary to invest in ITS. The integration between the regulation system and information to user is the key to provide mobility. Data collected about the operation and traffic conditions are decisive for decision making and thus the synergy between traffic and transportation must be natural. This article aims to present the experience of Porto Alegre in providing mobility management and regulation of transport through the Central Monitoring and Control of Mobility- CECOMM supported by the effective use of ITS.
