Application of RFID Technology in Bus Signal Priority Control at Intersections

Abstract
In June 2008, the bus signal priority expand engineering of traffic signal control system was put into effect in Beijing. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology as the bus-vehicle detector was used widely. RFID detection technology became mature in bus signal priority control at intersections. This paper first introduces the RFID operating principle, the method of installation and the application effect of the bus signal priority. At last, this paper gave some prospects of the application of RFID that used in traffic signal control for emergency vehicles such as fire truck, emergency ambulance, traffic police vehicles, and so on.
