A Study on the Traffic Behavior and Optimization for Historic Town

Abstract
Based on the analysis of traffic behavior in the historic town, this paper describes the difficulties and problems of the traffic development in the historic town. On the goal of conservation and development for historic town, the article analyses the decision-making for the development of transportation in historic town, and proposes the scope and main content of the traffic planning. According to characteristics of the historic town, the paper proposes the traffic optimization strategies and methods in the construction, including of respect for the conservation of the historic town, prevent large demolition and construction; a hierarchy of road blocks and treat them differently; respect for history, widening the street by stages; expand the scope of one-way traffic, increase the number of parking lots; promote green travel methods.
