Abstract
Empty wagon distribution is an important element of railway transportation and is also one of the primary makeups of railway freight plan. In light of the shortcomings of current optimization of railway empty wagon distribution which does not consider the uncertainty, the authors of the paper analyze the stochastic factors in railway empty wagon distribution. A new probability model of empty wagon distribution is established based on the uncertainty analysis so that the chance constraints can be converted to their respective deterministic equivalents for resolution. Analysis indicates that the new model is more applicable and also puts forward a new idea for the problem resolution of empty wagon distribution.
