Study on Decision-Making for Operation Mode of Bus Rapid Transit

Abstract
When planning and constructing the system of bus rapid transit (BRT), it is crucial to classify and select the operation mode of BRT reasonably. This paper analyzes the formation process of BRT operation mode and classifies the operation mode into the primary, standard and advanced mode with taking the infrastructure, operational characteristics and service level into consideration. The ANP method was employed to set up the decision-making model of operation mode, the indexes which include social, economic and service factors. A case study was performed on Lanzhou BRT Planning Line 2; the result calculated by Mat lab illuminates that the primary operation mode is the best. The result shows that the operation mode selected by this model is in accordance with the economy and traffic flow of the service area, the model is practical.
