Abstract
The steel-concrete hybrid structure is a new type of special industrial structure used in large thermal power plants. Its stiffness and mass is highly non-uniform in the vertical direction. In China, this kind of structure is mainly designed by foreign companies because of its structural complexity. A calculation model of the hybrid structure was established using finite element analysis software SAP2000. Dynamic behaviors were studied with the mode analysis method. Unidirectional, bidirectional seismic response was analyzed with response spectrum analysis method and elastic time history analysis method. Vertical seismic response was studied with response spectrum analysis method. Results show obvious torsion response . The unidirectional and bidirectional seismic torsion response is similar. The average shear obtained using three time history curves is smaller than that from using the response spectrum analysis method. Therefore, structures should be designed based on the response spectrum analysis results. Vertical seismic response should be analyzed based on the current codes.
