Abstract
The bus stop has an impact on the signalized intersection's traffic flow when it is set up at the upstream of an intersection. Based on the assumption and the analysis of the practical situation, a model of calculating the efficiency of the lane at the upstream of the intersection (which imitates the work theory in physics) is given. This model is a tool which can be used to evaluate the signalized intersection upstream traffic flow quantitatively and intuitively. It gives a method to set the bus stop at the upstream of an intersection by the analysis of the relation between the length from the bus stop to the stop line, as well as the efficiency of the lane at the signalized intersection upstream influenced by the bus stop. The result shows that this model can calculate the efficiency and gives a better location of the bus stop.
