Reliability Analysis of Slope Stability under the Condition of Extreme Ice-Snow and Frozen Disaster

Publication: Earth and Space 2010: Engineering, Science, Construction, and Operations in Challenging Environments

Abstract

Most areas in south China suffered the rare disaster of low temperature, ice-snow and freezing weather at 2008, which caused serious impact on the society, e.g. power systems, transportation, agriculture and people's living. In this paper, the influence of ice-snow on the infrastructures, such as the slope, is studied; meanwhile the defense work under the condition of extreme ice-snow and frozen disaster is proposed for reference. The influence factors of the slope stability under extreme ice-snow disaster are analyzed in this paper. Considering the influence of ice-snow condition on the variation of seepage field and frost heaving forces, a reasonable stability analysis method is proposed for the slope failure induced by ice-snow. Moreover, combined with the JC method of structural reliability theory, structural reliability for the design of geological disaster prevention and the combination condition of loads in ice-snow weather as well are presented.
