Structural Noise of Longitudinal Stiffened Concrete Cylindrical Shell

Publication: ICCTP 2009: Critical Issues In Transportation Systems Planning, Development, and Management

Abstract

Structural noise induced by urban viaduct box beam basically comes from the vibration responses with low frequency noises, which may adversely affect humans and the production of high-precision instruments. The mitigation of vibration induced noises becomes a hot, but practical, issue in the field of environmental protection. Aimed at the coupling effect between medium and structure, the characteristics of sound radiation of the longitudinal stiffened concrete cylindrical shell are investigated. Firstly, motion equations of infinite concrete cylindrical shell are established. Secondly, radial velocity of the shell in wave-number domain is obtained based on the wave-number domain approach and transfer matrix method. And then, the forecast model of pressure radiated by the shell is formulated according to the stationary phase method. The results show that longitudinal ribs can effectively reduce the vibration and noise of concrete cylindrical shell. These can provide foundation to the research of reducing vibration and noise of the pipeline structure in practical engineering and the theoretical research on structural noise of railway box beam in urban viaduct rail facilities.
