Coordinated Development between Transportation System and Socio-Economic System Research Based on SEM

Transportation System and Socio-economic System have mutual connections and influences. Their coordinated development has become an important guarantee to achieve the overall optimization of national economy. But in reality the situation is that one is often relatively ahead of or legged behind the other. So it becomes necessary for us to research on their coordinated development. Structural Equation Model (SEM) is a combination of Factor analysis and Path analysis, and it is suitable for dealing with such problems of finding out the relationship between large-scaled systems that contain lots of attributes and targets. For this reason, this paper has established a SEM-based model to study the situation of coordinated development between Transportation System and Socio-economic System. In the model, we build an evaluation index system, and take Wuhan City Circle for empirical study on its status of coordinated development between Highway-Waterway Transportation System and Socio-economic System. The paper gives out the path figure by LISREL and calculates out the coordination degree according to the coordination degree model; at last it puts forward some strategies for improving the coordination between the two systems.
