Experimental Investigation of the First Precast Bi-Pre-Stressing Simple Girder Concrete Bridge
Publication: ICCTP 2009: Critical Issues In Transportation Systems Planning, Development, and Management
Abstract
The experimental investigation of the first precast bi-pre-stressing simple girder concrete bridge in China, the Da-Tun Bridge, is presented. The structure and fabrication of the bridge, especially the post-tensioning reinforcement setup of the upper end of the girder, are introduced. In addition, the details of the comprehensive tests on the Da-Tun Bridge, including pre-stressing loss measurement and analysis, static tests, and live loading tests, are also presented. The corresponding major building technologies are tested and improved after the experiments. Finally, the load carrying capacity of the girder and the operating performance of the Da-Tun Bridge are evaluated. Some issues arose in this bi-pre-stressing practice and a possible solution is presented as well.
