Traffic Simulation Calibration Based on Purpose and Parameter Contribution
Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2009
Abstract
Traffic simulation software has been widely used in transportation planning and traffic design. However, the input parameters diversity and correlation lead to simulation results credibility questionable. In view of this, based on traffic macro-simulation software VISUM, this paper gives evaluation index, criteria and calculation method of traffic simulation. Then, facing the diversity and correlation of input parameters, this paper analyzes the relationship between input parameters and output indexes, as well as impact degree. The conclusions drawn above can help selection and ordering the input parameters based on the different simulation purposes, as well as determine the adjustments range of input parameters according to the simulation output. Finally, take macro traffic simulation of elevated and freeway simulation in Shanghai's for instance; the four simulation outputs indexes are analyzed by changing the speed, capacity and impedance value. The validity of the traffic calibration method based on simulation purpose and input parameter contribution is verified.
