Analysis of the Interaction between the Transportation and Regional Economic Development Based on the Panel Data Model

Abstract
Transportation and regional development has a close relationship in the mutual promotion. Transportation plays an important role in the course of China economic development. This article firstly analyses the present condition of the transportation development in our country, then uses the Panel Data Model analyzing the relationship between transportation and economic development in the nation-wide and 31 provinces and cities from 2002 to 2005. The results showed that, economic development has a strong correlation with the development of transportation. From the nationwide, the development of transportation in rich regions is significantly higher than in the poor areas. In addition, the development of the transportation is affected by the regional area, the eastern drive effect and the natural conditions.
