Analysis of Development Mode of Road Container Transport in Northeast China

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2009

Abstract

Container transport has become an important form of transportation with the features such as safety, quickness, efficiency, high-quality. Road container transport is an important sub-system of container transport, which is the most important aggregation and evacuation way of container transport. And its connectivity and supporting role have been more and more paid attention to. From the perspective of containerization, the paper discusses the development process of road container transport in China and puts forward the theory of primary, intermediate and advanced stages. Simultaneously it also analyzes the road container transport in Northeast China deeply based on three-stage development theory. There is fine development environment for road container transport in Northeast China: fine economic foundation, ample supplies, great ports, good transport channels etc. Based on the above mentioned theories, the paper proposes that road container transport in Northeast China should develop itself through the methods including organization of supplies, marketing and company construction. The paper also raises a proposal on setting up the transport mode of regional hub for road container, which makes Dalian Port and Jinzhou Port as the core and makes the road network of provinces of Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang as channels. Researching on the road container transport and its development mode in Northeast China has important realistic significance in promoting the revitalization of Northeast old industrial base, and lays the theoretical foundation for the government's policy-making.
