Geotechnical Centrifuge Experiment Model on Analysis of Pile-Soil Load Share Ratio on Composite Foundation of High Strength Concrete Pile

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2009

Abstract

Pile-soil load share ratio causes great impact to calculation for treatment on composite foundation of high strength concrete pile, especially, the rising distance between piles and pile cap size change impact need supplementary study for proper calculation. The article combines site experiments on soft soil embankment on Da-Cheng route (V>200 km/h), seven experiments on centrifugal acceleration imitating the CFG (cement flyash gravel) in changes of pile spacing and sizes of pile caps based on allocation rules and enforcement's loading capability. The result reads that: 1) Pile-soil load share ratio decreased gradually in line with the increase of distance between piles, but rose gradually in line with the increasing size of pile cap. 2) Once composite foundation with soft soil embankment was treated by high strength concrete piles measure and the space between piles was equal to six times of pile diameter, the enforcement of pile cap was addressed by the suitable pile cap coverage percentage which was 23.73%. 3) Once the coverage percentage of pile cap was higher than 23.73% the pile-soil load share ratio was over 90% pile foundation, treatment in the experiment can use the calculation of pile foundation for handling its issues.
