A Real-Time Scheduling Model in Container Wharf Based on Mobile-Agent
Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2009
Abstract
Wireless terminals are being popularly used in applications and works at container wharfs as wireless-network techniques becoming more mature. The capacity of communications among terminal equipment is significantly increased, thus made the Real-Time Scheduling (RTS) possible. The most prominent features of RTS include dynamic dispatch and high efficiency, but the complex working and communication environment, such as signal shielding, constant position changing, etc., hinders the quality of wireless communications. How to fully utilize wireless resources and break the communication bottleneck is the key for the parallel and reliable dispatching system in current researches on container wharf scheduling. The Mobile-Agent technique is helpful in resolving the problem of RTS in wireless communications, because Mobile-Agents are bandwidth saving, transmission-delay insensitive, asynchronous, self-adaptive, robust and error-tolerant. In light of this, an application model of Mobile-Agent based RTS is suggested. The mechanism and technique details on implementation are discussed, furthermore, provides a new idea for constructing RTS systems in container wharfs.
