The Design Methods of Bituminous Low Volume Roads
Authors: Duanyi Wang and Xi ZhaoAuthor Affiliations
Publication: Logistics: The Emerging Frontiers of Transportation and Development in China
Abstract
This paper introduces some definitions and design methods of low volume roads (LVR) in the world. Quantitative comparisons of some characteristic methods are made. In response to the features of LVR in China, the paper points out comprehensive models are still inadvisable. A method of design catalog is recommended. The authors believe the percentage of heavy commercial vehicles should be an appropriate design parameter of LVR, the same as reliability. And some design indicators expressed by performance are promising.
