An Optimized Model of Shiplock Scheduling on the ''Unpredictable/Single Line'' Condition

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007

Abstract

It is an intensive way for solving the problems of crowded shiplock to strengthen its management and efficiency of Running & Scheduling. According to the present situation, we study the optimization model on the "unpredictable/single line" condition. The conception of ‘Maximum Waiting Time' to the waiting ships for shiplock is proposed based on the psychological theory. On the basis of the three traditional service ways, a new service way called time limit service way is proposed. Aiming at the maximum utilization of a chamber, an optimized dynamic model of ship combination in chamber is developed using the 0–1 programming while queuing the ships according to their respective types which are extremely large, large, medium, and small. And this model is put into practice in Lvsi Shiplock and the result shows that Running & Scheduling efficiency can be promoted by using this optimization model.
