Abstract
Building virtual environment for hoisting and conveying machinery and carrying on special simulation can effectively achieve the working states just like real environment. One of the key problems in building the virtual environment is the modeling of virtual objects. Good virtual models not only require high degree of realism, but also need to have satisfying real-time operation ability. This paper used several technologies and obtained VRML models of overhead traveling crane, tower crane and so on, according to the different types and applying request of the hoisting and conveying machinery. Kinetic models of all parts of the overhead crane were established, and several interfaces were implements in the virtual environment in order to achieve good operability of the virtual models. In addition, a simple operating box was designed and developed.
