Optimization System of Linear Traffic Control with Transverse Interference Amendment
Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007
Abstract
Traffic consciousness of traffic actors such as pedestrians, within city transportation always becomes indifferent. As a result, the behaviors of slender peccancy bring crosswise interferences to the normal traffic stream. Especially within intersection of signal control, the transverse interferences always lead the signal control to be chaotic, seriously affect the control efficiency, and even result in traffic jam. When optimization design of signal control, especially when signal linear control designing for trunk road, it has become factors which must be considered. This article carries on analysis to the transverse interferences within intersection, which are divided into three kinds of situation: pedestrians' occupying to driveway when red light, pedestrians' traversing into driveway when red light, and pedestrians' lingering traversing when red light just begins. And then amendatory coefficients are introduced, to design optimum control parameters according to the practical traffic data, based on the basic theory of linear control. This article develops a simulation system for optimization design of linear control, with amendment to traverse interferences, using Visual C++. The program architecture is described, and the validity of the system is confirmed through the actual traffic data. According to the contrast between optimized results, considering amendment of traverse interference and not, it indicates that the optimized result with amendatory coefficients better suits the actual condition, average delay time gets greatly reduced, wider width of green band is obtained. The system improves the service of trunk road on the whole.
