ANSYS Based Numerical Simulation Study of Stone Arch Bridge Construction

Abstract
The research on bridge's stress and displacement change in the course of the constructing stone arch bridge is very important for design, online monitoring, maintenance, and reinforcement of the stone arch bridge. In this paper, by using general finite element software package ANSYS, the technology of element's death and survival, and the technology of function selection, a three dimensional numerical simulation system for the construction of the stone arch bridge was developed. A stone arch bridge with span length at 60m is used as an example. The numerical simulation results indicate that in the constructing course of the stone arch bridge, the variety of stress and displacement is not increase with the increase of the load, but as a course of fluctuate. The results also show that the transverse wall can make stress distributing of the main arch more uniform, and the line of arch is close to perfect arch line.
