Tackling the Bad Geology and High Retaining Wall Disasters of Highway in a Comprehensive Way — using ''Concrete Slab and Prestressed Anchor Stay'' Technique

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007

Abstract

The up-and-down traffic of the section between K3+420 to K3+520 of some A highway in Lishui City Zhejiang Province was designed into two separated roadbeds. The road shoulder retaining wall along the left side of right roadbed occurred serious disasters of vertical and horizontal cracks, avalanches, peeling off, crushing, tympanites and sliding, etc. Based on the site survey, investigation and analysis, this paper pointes out the causes leading to these disasters as follows: abrupt topography, complex and bad engineering geology, unreasonable design and wrong choice of construction material, etc. Adopting the comprehensive scheme of "concrete slab and prestressed anchor stay", we tackle the bad geology and high retaining wall disasters effectively and successfully. It is proved that the effect of strengthening measures is remarkable, and has reference value to similar projects.
