Deformation of Permafrost Yard-and-Station Roadbed for Qinghai-Tibet Railway
Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007
Abstract
Qinghai-Tibet railway locates in permafrost regions. The roadbed project is one of the fundamental and key projects for constructing Qinghai-Tibet railway. The roadbed's settlement and deformation caused by frost and thaw process of earth is the crucial factor to decide whether the railway can be constructed or will be safe for transportation. So the analysis and forecast related with roadbed's settlement and deformation is very important. The paper is funded by the sub research "The research of yard-and-station roadbed in permafrost region of Qinghai-Tibet railway". Data are obtained through the experiment and handled accordingly. The paper discusses the rule of the process of yard-and-station roadbed settlement and deformation and analyzes the temperature of yard-and-station roadbed and simulates the deformation combined with the geometry dimension, certain geology circumstances and temperature of roadbed under experiment, and it adopts the finite element method to analyze the settlement and deformation of roadbed. Some suggestions of the engineering prevention and cure measures are presented which supplies some theory foundation to similar permafrost engineering.
